Nice - Nice, against the clock in teams, the fourth stage of the Tour de France

Together against the clock.

The team time-trials are similar in all respects to individual time trials except that they are raced in teams. The teams shoot forward from the starting line aiming to finish in the fastest possible times.

The teams' times are dependent on the 5th rider to cross the finish line.

The strongest racers have to restrain themselves so that no one is left trailing and the team as a whole can finish with the best time. The five riders on the team are credited with the same time, while the losers are attributed their individual performance times.
